Have you ever considered a career as an air traffic controller?
The Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration launched the gaming-focused campaign in April as part of efforts to address the country's long-running air traffic controller shortage.
The agencies believe that experienced gamers often possess skills valuable in air traffic control, including spatial awareness, multitasking, rapid decision-making, sustained concentration, and problem-solving.
They must also pass the 3.5-hour Air Traffic Skills Assessment, medical and psychological evaluations, drug screening, fingerprinting, and federal background checks.
A 2024 government review found that 37% of the FAA's air traffic control systems were unsustainable and another 39% were potentially unsustainable.
