The New York Times, the nation’s paper of record, reported that he was confirmed “after overcoming GOP concerns.” And every step of the way most GOP House representatives and senators have either turned a blind eye or cheered Blanche on. To say that Blanche “overcame” GOP concerns is thus simply ludicrous. Having been confirmed, expect Blanche in the coming months to go from bad to worse. And, when it happens, expect the New York Times to then run a puff piece explaining how the GOP senators who allowed their mild concerns to be “overcome” now feel cheated by Blanche’s ongoing actions as a mob consigliere.
