LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Aug, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the launch of a pilot projectto provide clean drinking water through pipeline networks in six districts as part of thelargest drinking water initiative in the province’s history. She said her government was committed to ensuring access to safe drinking water for every individual and every household across the province. The meeting was informed that clean drinking water was already being supplied through filtration plants, bottled water plants and water bowsers, while plans were underway to further expand coverage in water-deficient and underserved areas. She ordered that low-income households be given priority under the programme and directed officials to ensure safe drinking water reaches areas lacking reliable water sources. The CM further directed officials to operate bottled water plants at full capacity and appreciated the successful delivery of bottled drinking water to remote areas of the Koh-e-Suleman region.
