The 1975 song John Lennon wanted to be his last: “Farewell to the game”John Lennon did almost everything in his career based on instinct.
Despite his tragic murder at the tail end of 1980, Lennon’s final years were actually a lot more laid-back than most would expect.
He was a new man at that point, and he had had enough of getting too crazy every night.
Adding, “I was still separated from Yoko and still hadn’t had the baby, but somewhere in the back was a voice that was saying, ‘Are you saying farewell to the whole game?’
While Lennon did find himself out of his musical fog on Double Fantasy, leaving off his career on this note would have been more tragic than anything.
