After a decade in business, South London–based Sid Motion Gallery has announced plans to shut down at the end of October. In a press release, Sid Motion, the gallery’s eponymous founder, said that the gallery is “stopping while we are ahead, while my artists are properly serviced and the quality of the programme remains high.” Sid Motion Gallery originally operated out of a former betting shop in King’s Cross, London, that Motion set up while continuing to work full-time. In 2019, Motion moved the gallery to its current location in South Bermondsey, London. Having collaborated with organizations and events such as the New Art Centre in Salisbury, Bosse & Baum, Association of Women in the Arts (AWITA) and JW Anderson, NADA Miami, and Condo Mexico City, Sid Motion Gallery is known for championing emerging and mid-career artists.
