PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Aug, 2026) Provincial Minister for Local Government Mina Khan Afridi on Monday formally inaugurated a Rs 240 million sub-scheme of the Warsak Gravity Canal in Peshawar, aimed at permanently resolving sewage disposal issues in the city's major canals.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi, the provincial government has allocated Rs 5 billion for a comprehensive project to address sewage outflow into major canals.
The Warsak Gravity Canal sub-scheme is a key component of this initiative.
In addition to sewage connections, the project includes road rehabilitation, cleaning of canal surroundings, and beautification and landscaping works.
Upon completion, the project will prevent direct sewage discharge into the canal, improve the overall drainage system, and ensure a clean, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing environment for residents of the surrounding areas.
