Organizers say this will be the first time a grand Shrimad Bhagwat Saptaha Gyan Mahayagya, a sacred Hindu event is being held in Canada.
Local Bhutanese Nepali community organizers hope a week-long spiritual event beginning Friday will attract 10,000 devotees, international visitors and families from across North America to Chatham-Kent.
Chuda Bajgai, president of the Bhutanese Nepali Community of Chatham-Kent, said it will be the first grand Shrimad Bhagwat Saptaha Gyan Mahayagya held in Canada.
The Mahayagya, open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily, will feature a lot of singing, chanting and a variety of dances, Bajgai said.
“The program is open to all the public, it doesn’t matter about the race, colour, language or the religion, it is open to everyone,” he said.
