Warm, moisture-filled air remains settled over the Washington region, keeping conditions humid throughout the day.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 80s and low 90s, with a high near 91 degrees in the District.
Those early showers are expected to gradually weaken as they move east, giving the region an opportunity to see some sunshine around midday.
While storms are not expected to cover the entire region, the District remains under a marginal risk for severe weather.
Drivers should be prepared for sudden downpours, reduced visibility and changing road conditions if storms develop along major routes.
