PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Aug, 2026) Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah chaired a high-level meeting held here on Monday reviewed the growing challenge of water depletion and to finalize a comprehensive strategy for groundwater recharge across the province. During the meeting, it was decided that all new PC-I will mandatorily include a groundwater recharge and rainwater harvesting feature to cater for the issue of water depletion in a sustainable manner. To set a practical example, all Deputy Commissioners have been directed to ensure implementation of at least one groundwater recharge building in their respective districts. TMAs/WSSCs of the Local Government Department should identify flood-prone urban areas and make arrangements for rainwater harvesting to store water and groundwater recharge. There is a need to store monsoon water.
