Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has directed all relevant departments to make comprehensive arrangements for celebrating Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with national enthusiasm and to ensure the successful implementation of the Mega Plantation DriveABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Aug, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has directed all relevant departments to make comprehensive arrangements for celebrating Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with national enthusiasm and to ensure the successful implementation of the Mega Plantation Drive. The meeting reviewed preparations for Independence Day programmes and plantation activities. He directed the DFO Galiyat Division to provide the required number of saplings to departments according to their demands. The GDA, Cantonment Boards and TMAs were also asked to play an active role in the Mega Plantation Drive, while the Regional Sports Officer was directed to organise various sports competitions on Independence Day. Sarmad Saleem Akram further directed that Independence Day programmes in schools should promote patriotism, national unity and a sense of responsibility among students, encouraging them to play a positive role in the development and progress of the country.
