The recently concluded Louis Edem West Africa Women Basketball Championship has provided much-needed preparation for teams ahead of the 2026 NBBF/Zenith Bank Women Basketball League season. The Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League is set to dunk off this weekend across the Savannah and Atlantic Conferences, with several teams having featured in the Louis Edem championship in Lagos at the weekend. Founder of the Louis Edem Foundation, Louis Edem, said the championship would help the participating teams identify their weaknesses and areas that needed improvement. MFM Women Basketball League, the losing finalist in the 2025 league season, emerged champions after defeating First Bank in the final played in Lagos at the weekend. With the new Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League season set to begin this weekend, the participating teams will now look to translate the lessons and competitive experience gained from the Louis Edem championship into the domestic campaign.
