That is precisely why Indian Muslims need to look at the numbers without fear. The All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2023–24 records approximately 22.5 lakh Muslim students in higher education, out of about 4.50 crore students nationally. Muslim educational outcomes vary considerably across India, demonstrating that there cannot be a single explanation for the national picture. A scholarship should be judged by how many recipients complete higher education and move towards productive careers. To acknowledge shortcomings within the Muslim community is not to accept blame for every disadvantage Muslims face.
