Bayer Leverkusen strengthen defence with Marseille’s Facundo Medina

Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the signing of Argentina international defender Facundo Medina from Marseille on a five-year contract through to 30 June 2031"In Facundo Medina, we have signed a highly experienced professional who, thanks to his quality and strong mentality, will immediately be a key player for our team,” said Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes.
“Making the move to Bayer 04 in the Bundesliga is fantastic for me,” said Medina.
“At the World Cup in North America, Exequiel Palacios told me a lot about the club and spoke very highly of Leverkusen.
The 27-year-old, who will wear the number two jersey at Leverkusen, made 26 competitive appearances for Marseille in 2025/26, earning him a place in Lionel Scaloni’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
Medina played four games in North America, including coming on as a substitute in the final, as Argentina finished runners-up to Spain.
