+ ↺ − 16 pxQatar has accused Israel of “dragging its feet” by rejecting a Gaza peace plan and urged the international community to pressure Israel to move forward with the next phase of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed al-Ansari, said Doha hoped international pressure would lead to implementation of the second phase of the accord, Al Jazeera reported. “The State of Qatar continues to work with its partners in the international community to ensure the transition to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement,” al-Ansari said during his weekly news briefing. The spokesperson was referring to a plan announced by US President Donald Trump that forms the basis of the ceasefire agreement. Qatar, which has played a key mediating role in efforts to end the Gaza war, said Israel must now fulfill its obligations under the agreement.
