Nayagada: Tension erupted at Bhapur Community Health Centre (CHC) in this district Tuesday following the death of an 18-year-old college student, with her family alleging that the girl died after being administered a wrong injection.
The deceased, Santoshi Behera of Golapokhari village under Fatehgarh police station, was a Plus III third-year student of Pathani Samanta College in Khandapada.
Her family said Santoshi developed dizziness while preparing to leave for college Tuesday morning and was taken to the CHC where doctor Ashok Kumar Mallik administered an injection through saline.
As her condition didn’t improve, she was referred to Bhubaneswar, but she died at the CHC before being shifted.
Family members and locals staged a protest at the CHC, demanding action against the doctor and compensation for the family.
