THE FIRST phase of work on a new public park for the district is officially complete. The Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire Tim Cox and Leamington mayor Coun Sarah Boad joined Warwick district councillors, officers and project partners at Elizabeth Park to mark the occasion on Thursday July 16. Phase two of Elizabeth Park will follow the planned relocation of the Edmondscote athletics facility estimated for 2028, with the final stage linking the extended park to existing green spaces west of the athletics track along the River Avon. WDC chairman Coun Pam Redford said: “We are very proud to see the opening of the first phase of Elizabeth Park. Councillor Will Roberts, WDC’s neighbourhood spokesperson added: “The development of Elizabeth Park is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing green spaces across the district and improving accessibility for walking, cycling and sport.
