Then there was the patient who asked an AI chatbot about her bloating. But there is a new doctor on the scene now who really does worry me: Dr AI – be that Dr ChatGPT, Dr Gemini or another. The failings of AI health advice are having a very tangible and dangerous effect on countless patients. These are all patients who could potentially have cancer, who have been advised away from seeing a doctor by AI. I do understand why people are increasingly turning to AI for health advice.
