FREDDIE Slater now leads the Formula 3 Championship standings after securing his maiden victory in the series at the Hungaroring, writes Tori Turner. The win had been a long time coming for Stratford-upon-Avon’s Slater after he narrowly missed out in the previous three rounds in Austria, Great Britain and Belgium. Slater now sits at the top of the standings with 130 points, eight points ahead of closest rival Ugo Ugochukwu with two rounds left of the 2026 championship. Upon the restart on lap 17, Ugochukwu had fallen out of Slater’s DRS range, only to claw back to be within a second on lap 20. The final rounds of the championship will take place after the summer break, starting with the Italian Grand Prix in Monza on September 4 to 6.
