STRATFORD Town’s over-50s walking football team suffered penalty shootout heartbreak in the club’s first-ever WFA National Cup campaign. Stratford drew 1-1 with Solihull Moors in a closely-contested final in Redditch as the game went to a shootout. The Bards led through Paul Clarke’s first-half goal only for Pete Johnson to equalise for the Birmingham Premier League champions after the break. Stratford showed resilience to take the game to a shootout after playing some of the match with one player less. However, Moors triumphed 3-2 on penalties to deny Stratford a first National Cup triumph.
