RESIDENTS in south Warwickshire are fundraising to buy their local. They have raised almost £60,000 towards the £380,000 they need to buy and refurbish the 200-year-old Cottage Tavern in Ashorne and turn it into a community pub. The pub has been closed and up for sale for over a year after a string of landlords failed to make a go of it. One of the working group masterminding the campaign, Kate Freeman, believes reopening the pub could transform the village. She said: “Keeping English heritage, such as the Cottage Tavern in Ashorne alive is really important.
