Somerset Council has issued a formal notice of its intention to install a road hump on The Leggar next to Sainsbury's, 25 metres north-east of the Bridgwater Retail Park roundabout. Disabled residents previously told the Bridgwater Mercury back in 2023 that "you take your life in your hands" attempting to cross the road using the current crossing. The crossing is intended to create a safer route between the supermarket and the retail park, where pedestrians have faced fast-moving traffic leaving the roundabout. The Leggar runs between the retail park and the Sainsbury’s store, providing a cut-through for traffic between The Clink and Quantock Terrace onto the A39. "For too long people have faced fast moving traffic with no safe option, and this raised crossing will finally put that right.
