The result was the Women’s Cricket Association, which went on to govern the women’s game in England for more than 70 years until it merged with the England and Wales Cricket Board in 1998.
Lucy Merredy, who plays for Colwall Cricket Club, said the week has become a fixture of village life.
“There’s lots of camaraderie, games, and lots and lots of cricket, but also lots of other social events too.”
“To say that 100 years ago women’s cricket started here, and to say it’s still going on, is amazing.
It’s great for the club and it’s great to show women’s cricket is still thriving 100 years later.”
