DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Aug, 2026) The district administration and Social Welfare Department have expelled 14 professional beggars, including minors, from the city as part of an anti-begging operation carried out under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s policy.
The operation was conducted in different areas of the city, with officials taking the beggars into custody before expelling them from the area.
The officials said the campaign was aimed at discouraging professional begging at public places and addressing the problem through sustained action.
They said the anti-begging drive was not merely intended to remove beggars from public places, but also to facilitate their rehabilitation by linking them with vocational training and livelihood opportunities.
The district administration and Social Welfare Department would continue further operations regularly to curb professional begging in the district.
