For domestic flight tickets issued from August 5, adult passengers now pay a fuel surcharge of RMB40 on each flight segment of 800 kilometers or less, and RMB70 on longer journeys. The lower charges arrive during an already busy summer travel season. By July 29, around 17.5 million domestic tickets had already been booked for August, roughly 7% more than a year earlier.
