Slocan will have a new mayor this fall. After almost 12 years in the position, Jessica Lunn has announced that she won’t seek re-election in October. Lunn also served six years as a village councillor before being elected mayor in 2014, for a total of 18 years on council. She said the decision not to seek re-election wasn’t easy, but she is “feeling pulled toward somethign different now.” Lunn said sometimes people need someone to tap them on the shoulder and ask if they have ever thought about running.
