Chief Engineer Irrigation Sargodha Zone Sadaqat Latif inspected ongoing emergency flood protection works at Guide Head Spur RD 9000 of Shahwala Grain Flood BundSARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Aug, 2026) Chief Engineer Irrigation Sargodha Zone Sadaqat Latif inspected ongoing emergency flood protection works at Guide Head Spur RD 9000 of Shahwala Grain Flood Bund,located along the left bank of the River Indus on Tuesday. During the visit, the chief engineer reviewed the protective measures being undertakenby the field formations of Layyah Division in view of the prevailing flood situation andassessed the progress of work aimed at safeguarding the flood protection bund. Field officers and staff briefed the Chief Engineer Sadaqat Latif regarding the ongoingemergency works and inspected various sections of the site to assess the pace andquality of construction as well as safety arrangements. He also directed officials to ensure continuous monitoring of emergency works andeffective utilization of machinery and manpower deployed at the site. He said the protection and strengthening of flood protection bunds and guide head spursalong the River Indus were among the top priorities of the Irrigation Department, as thesestructures played a vital role in protecting nearby populations, agricultural land and otherimportant installations from flood risks.
