A gunman who shot a man in the arm during an attempted robbery in Solihull was tracked down by police to a hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon a week later, where he was found with £2,000 of cocaine and a taser, a court has heard. According to West Midlands Police, the attack happened at around 11pm on 25 January last year, on Oak Croft, Solihull. A victim impact statement read to the court described the lasting effect of the attack, including the family’s decision to relocate afterwards. A week after the shooting, police traced Lawlor, of Stratford Road, Solihull, to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, where they recovered the cocaine and taser. A sentencing hearing opened at Birmingham Crown Court on 24 July, but was adjourned to a later date.
