Greg Abbott on Monday ordered a statewide audit of data center projects in ERCOT’s interconnection queue, tightening oversight of AI infrastructure as proposed electric demand continues to soar. In a directive to the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), Abbott ordered a “comprehensive verification and audit” of every data center interconnection request.
