“Jolly Picnic Party” headlined The Aspen Weekly Times Aug. 10, 1907. “The Brush creek folk never do things by halves — on Saturday evening they had another dance at the school house, but Sunday’s picnic eclipsed it all. Some thirty old and young went to Snow Mass with fish rods and well filled lunch baskets in hand. The dinner-call was given and even the fisherman hurried to the picnic spot, where fish stories, song and a general chit-chat filled in between the toothsome morsels. Toward evening the baskets were gathered together and all declared the day was one of the best yet spent in the neighborhood.
