AI-enabled interface links MQ-4C Triton and P-8A Poseidon in maritime demonstrationNewsDan Taylor Technology Editor Military Embedded SystemsMQ-4C via Northrop SAN DIEGO, California.
Northrop Grumman and Boeing demonstrated automated mission coordination between the uncrewed MQ-4C Triton and crewed P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft using artificial intelligence (AI) and an open-systems architecture, Northrop Grumman announced in a statement.
During the laboratory demonstration, the aircraft systems exchanged maritime intelligence through a standardized interface supporting machine-to-machine mission planning and execution, the statement reads.
The exchange used the Universal Command and Control Interface, a machine-to-machine collaboration standard based on Open Mission Systems and the Autonomy Government Reference Architecture, according to the statement.
Northrop Grumman says the common interface could enable Triton to exchange information with other U.S. and allied platforms that use the same standard while reducing operator workload and supporting faster mission decisions.
