Mission-critical connectivity provider Silvus Technologies is supporting the U.S. Marine Corps Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS) and Navy-Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS) in Okinawa, Japan, as the Silvus StreamCaster 4400 MANET [mobile ad hoc network] radios are part of the Marine Corps' modernization of expeditionary air defense and warfare capabilities.
According to information from the Marine Corps, the NMESIS and MADIS systems now provide the 3rd Marine Division personnel with cutting-edge land-based antiship and anti-sUAS [small uncrewed aerial system] capabilities tailored for the complex littoral environment.
The MADIS is a short-range, surface-to-air system that enables low-altitude air defense battalions to deter and neutralize UASs, small UASs, and fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft.
The Marine Corps says that the 3rd Marine Division’s 3rd MLR based in Oahu, Hawaii received the NMESIS in November 2024 and the MADIS in December 2024.
