There are still opportunities to get involved in the first Wight Games Festival, with several events taking place across the Island later this month. It will run from 10.30am through to the afternoon in the abbey gardens, with money raised going towards three Island charities — Mountbatten Isle of Wight, Independent Arts and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust Charity. Island Gig Rowing Club is holding a Try Gig Rowing Day at Island Harbour on August 22, from 10am until 1pm. Meanwhile, the Isle of Wight Federation of Women's Institutes is holding its rescheduled kurling event at Northwood Village Hall on Thursday, August 20. The Wight Games Festival was launched this year to raise money for the three Island charities.
