The announcement comes as new research shows that about eight in ten university students in Singapore believe AI skills will give them an advantage in the global workforce (81%) and be essential to their careers (77%).
In a survey of more than 500 university students, 94% said they use AI several times a week or more, while 55% use it multiple times each day.
The survey found that 95% of respondents wanted more opportunities to use advanced AI tools on real-world university projects, while 88% wanted to build an AI app, product or company during their studies.
NUS researchers are already using OpenAI tools to develop practical research infrastructure.
The collaboration also supports OpenAI’s broader OpenAI for Singapore initiative, a multi-year partnership with the Singapore government aimed at expanding access to AI and strengthening the country’s applied AI capabilities.
