Google brings restaurant ordering to Google Maps

The web giant has added in-app food ordering capabilities to Ask Google, an agentic AI chatbot within the Maps app.
Once the customer selects a restaurant, Ask Maps will automatically add food to a cart for the customer to review and edit or complete the order, all without leaving Maps.
Currently, Ask Maps is integrated with those that use online ordering from Square and Toast, with an Uber Eats integration in the works.
It’s similar to the now-defunct Order with Google, a feature that allowed customers to order from restaurants within Google Search.
Many customers still use Google and Google Maps to search for restaurants.
