Canadian National and CPKC have both reported record Canadian grain movements for the 2025-26 crop year that ended in July. CN said today (Aug. 11) that it moved more than 33.8 million metric tons of grain from Western Canada, surpassing the record of 32.6 million metric tons set in the 2024-25 crop year. That figure included 2.62 million metric tons in July, breaking a record of 2.43 million metric tons set in July 2020. CPKC, which reported its final results on Aug. 4, set its own record by moving 30.66 million metric tons in 2025-26, breaking a record set in 2020-21 by approximately 72,500 metric tons. “This shared commitment is helping move record amounts of Canadian grain to market safely, reliably and efficiently, while positioning the supply chain for continued growth.”
