Trio nabbed for unregistered medicines possession, second‑hand clothes along Harare-Mukumbura Road

News / Nationalby Gideon Madzikatidze / Simbarashe SitholeMAZOWE - Three people have been arrested after police intercepted them with unregistered medicines and undeclared bales of second‑hand clothes at a roadblock in Mashonaland Central.Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects were picked up on 6 August 2026 at around 0629 hours at the 40.5km peg along the Harare-Mukumbura Road.
"The accused persons are Artwell Sixpence (27) of Mupangira Village under Chief Musana in Bindura, Mejury Mupeusa (29) of O‑31 Tsungubvi, Glendale, and Memory Sixpence (33) of number 992 Rujeko in Glendale," Mundembe said.According to police, officers from ZRP Mazowe Traffic Support Unit and CID were conducting a security roadblock when they intercepted a white Suzuki hatchback travelling from Harare.
A search of the vehicle recovered four boxes each containing 20 × 100ml Novalyn Cough Expectorant, four boxes each containing 50 × 100ml Fenelyn Expectorant, and three bales of second‑hand clothes.During questioning, Artwell Sixpence allegedly told police he was transporting the two women and the goods he had picked up in Harare en route to Glendale.
"We appeal to all members of the public with information about drug dealings to contact the police.
The information will be treated with confidentiality," he said.Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the source and intended recipient of the medicines, adding momentum to wider discussions around illegal drug distribution and unregistered medicines enforcement.
