Paramedic Adrian Langford was speaking during an eerily realistic recreation of a bicycle crash, like the rising number he and his North East Ambulance Service colleagues have been attending this summer. "There's no sign of catastrophic head injury at this stage", he adds, approaching the casualty along with two colleagues. Mr Langford and his fellow ambulance service responders proceed to examine the girl, check her vital signs and provide immediate first aid. Mr Langford and colleagues were taking part in a training demonstration showing the media how shocking the scene of any serious bike crash can be. This forms part of NEAS' summer safety campaign, and leading figures have warned the public to take simple safety measures.
