Kerala’s new ‘Aquafit’ programme will train 14,000 students in swimming and water safety, with pools selected within 5 km of schools. Ponnani: The General Education Department is launching the ‘Aquafit’ programme to provide swimming training to students across Kerala. Swimming pools within 5-km radiusSuitable swimming pools located within a five-kilometre radius of participating schools will be identified for the training. Despite the rising number of drowning incidents, opportunities for scientific swimming training remain limited in the state. It is against this backdrop that the General Education Department is introducing the swimming training programme for students.
