Speaking at a town council meeting, Cllr Hilary Nelson said the event had given residents an opportunity to share their views on the town. Among the most common topics raised were calls to pedestrianise Sidmouth town centre, improve street cleaning, provide more public toilets and install additional seating along the Esplanade. Cllr Nelson said the town centre venue had encouraged people to stop and chat. The next community surgery will be held at Stowford Community Centre on Saturday, August 22, from 10am until noon. Cllr Nelson said the Saturday session had been introduced after residents asked for appointments outside the normal working week.
