Two people were shot and killed at a Chicago Public Schools elementary school in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood on Monday afternoon, fire officials said. The shooting was reported at around 3:50 p.m. at Mark Twain Elementary School along South Lotus Avenue near West 52nd Street. The second person, a 63-year-old man, was shot once in the head and also pronounced dead at a local hospital. SEIU Local 73, the union that represents custodial staff at CPS, confirmed both people who died were custodians at the school.
