PENFIELD, N.Y. — The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) hosted its “Out of the Darkness Community Walk,” Saturday to raise awareness and public funds to support suicide prevention. AFSP has hosted the Out of the Darkness Walk since 2002 all across the country, including in Rochester each year. As of 3 p.m. Saturday, the AFSP website says over $80,000 was raised from this walk out of a goal of $200,000. In 2023, the community walks across the country raised $22.8 million for suicide prevention.
