When Elon Musk acquired Twitter, subsequently rebranding it as X, he introduced a creator revenue sharing scheme intended to drive platform engagement. Almost three years on, X is retiring that initiative in favour of a new structure dubbed Original Content Rewards. The updated scheme aims to curb these exploiters whilst directly compensating creators who offer genuine insight, professional expertise, and creative perspectives. According to an India Today report, one creator pointed out that genuine small scale creators may be hit hardest by the overhaul, as accumulating 500,000 verified impressions remains virtually impossible without established algorithmic reach. Meanwhile, creators enrolled in the outgoing scheme will receive their final disbursements across three phases: 14 August, 28 August, and 11 September.
