The new seafront accommodation will be created above Sands By The Sea restaurant, offering guests panoramic estuary views and direct access to one of Southend’s most popular tourist attractions. Developers say the project will bring additional visitor accommodation to the city’s central seafront while making use of an existing building. He said: “We’re delighted that the council has supported our proposals to bring further tourist accommodation to Southend’s central seafront. “With the seafront right on their doorstep, guests will have the perfect base to enjoy everything Southend has to offer. In approving the scheme, planning officers said it supported local policies aimed at encouraging new visitor accommodation within the city’s tourist core.
