Firefighters were called to tackle the blaze which spread to a fence at around 6.05pm on Rectory Road in Pitsea, with alarming photos from the scene showing two fire engines fighting back the flames. "My hope is people will exercise caution and be extremely careful when disposing of garden waste this way, please be mindful of the risks." Essex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire was started by burning garden waste and issued further advice to prevent similar incidents. A spokesperson for the service said: "Firefighters were called to an incident on Rectory Road at 6.05pm on Saturday August 8. "It was a fence alight which was caused by the owner burning garden waste nearby.
