Channel 4 will join residents and campaigners for a community walk around Mount Bovers in Hawkwell on August 23 as part of a report examining the Government’s new “grey belt” policy. The visit comes as campaigners continue to fight Taylor Wimpey’s proposals to build 350 homes on land off Mount Bovers Lane, a scheme Rochford Council rejected in June. Julie Gooding, from campaign group Save Mount Bovers, said the issue went far beyond a single housing application. Campaigners argue Mount Bovers does not fit the image many people associate with grey belt land. A spokesperson for Channel 4 News confirmed the broadcaster will film the community walk at Mount Bovers for a report exploring changes to green belt land and planning policy.
