The woman was crossing the road outside the Morrisons store in the High Street in Wickham Market on April 18 last year. She was part of the way across the road when she was struck by a Nissan driven by George Durie, 72. The court heard that Durie had not seen the woman, and was only aware he had hit her when he heard a scream. He appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where he admitted driving without due care and attention. Durie was banned from driving for one year and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work over the next 18 months.
