Council delays A338 works as A31 wildfire diverts traffic through Salisbury

The closure of the A31, prompted by a large wildfire in the New Forest that has spread across 1.6 square kilometres, has created additional delays.
Motorists are being advised to plan ahead and expect congestion, particularly in and around Salisbury.
The wildfire has been burning for nearly two days, with crews from across the country helping to contain the blaze.
"This incident is also having a significant impact on the local road network, including the closure of the A31.
Wiltshire Council is continuing to monitor the situation and will reschedule the A338 resurfacing works for a later date.
