Max heat indices will reach the upper 90s across the New York metro area, the National Weather Service says. The Tri-State Area will get a break from the high heat and humidity as both start dropping over the coming days. The New York City area remains under a heat advisory Monday, with high temperatures back in the 90s and increasing chances for strong-to-severe storms. Meanwhile, the Storm Prediction Center elevated parts of the region west of the Hudson River to a Level 2 risk for strong-to-severe storms Monday evening. The NWS said heat indices will stay below 95 for the rest of the week, "with a noticeable cool-down" by the weekend.
