Top 24 Secondary School Choirs To Compete In Christchurch At The Big Sing Finale, 27-29 August 2026Christchurch will welcome Aotearoa’s finest young voices as the nation’s premier choral showcase, The Big Sing, returns for its national Finale featuring 24 standout secondary school choirs. Earlier this year, more than 9,100 students from 269 secondary school choirs took part in regional festivals held across the country. The Big Sing Finale rotates around New Zealand — Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin — and this year’s event will take place in the iconic Christchurch Town. While attending The Big Sing Wellington regional festival in June, Education Minister Erica Stanford announced a grant of $150,000 for The Big Sing across 2026/2027. “The Big Sing is about so much more than performance.
