The Assin Fosu District Court has remanded a 28-year-old trader, Monica Ampomah, into police custody after she allegedly assaulted her 10-year-old daughter over suspicions that the child was being sexually abused. Presided over by His Worship Abdul Majid Iliasu, the court ordered the accused to undergo a mental examination to determine her fitness to stand trial. The Assin Fosu District Court has remanded a 28-year-old trader, Monica Ampomah, into police custody after she allegedly assaulted her 10-year-old daughter over suspicions that the child was being sexually abused. At about 3:00 a.m., Ampomah allegedly woke the child and demanded that she identify the person responsible. The proprietress subsequently contacted Gilbert Takyi, a nurse at the St Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, who took the child to the hospital for medical attention.
